1937 Plymouth

This blog is a record of how I built my 1937 Plymouth two door sedan into a prize winning restomod. Restomod (restoration + modern technology) uses the advancements in automotive technology to enhance the performance, comfort and safety of a classic car. Follow along as I post photos and information over the next several weeks about how I modified and fabricated various components to bring this awesome project together. I will also share several upgrades I performed after the car was completed.

I fabricated a new glove box from sheetmetal. I made the back of the box removable so I could access the air conditioner/heater connections and valves for future maintenance and/or repair. I also installed a 1965 Pontiac courtesy light (not shown in these photos) in the top of the box.

Here I installed the grill for a fit check. I was fortunate to get the original stainless steel clad grill that came with the car. After some gentle straightening and massaging it fit back into the nacelle like a hand in a glove. After this fit check I sent it out to be media blasted and the stainless polished along with the trim molding and chrome for the center molding.

I installed the rear seat and armrests for fit check then stripped the material and stuffing from the frames and took them for sandblast and powder coat. I removed the mounting brackets from the armrests and fabricated new ones from plywood.
